About Netra Tarpanam
Netra Tarpanam builds a small reservoir of herbal dough around each eye and fills it with warm medicated ghee. With the eyes closed, the ghee is held in place, and you are asked to open and blink gently at intervals so it reaches the surface of the eye.
What a session involves
The dough rings are shaped and sealed against the skin around each eye. Ghee warmed to a comfortable temperature is poured in and retained, usually for 10 to 20 minutes. The rings are then removed and the area cleaned. Vision may be slightly blurred for a short while afterwards.
Afterwards
Avoid bright light, screens and driving immediately after the session. Your therapist will tell you how long to rest before returning to normal activity.
