About Pizhichil
Pizhichil combines a continuous pour of warm oil with simultaneous massage. Cloths are dipped in warmed medicated oil and wrung out over the body in a steady sequence while two therapists work in time with each other. It is one of the more resource-intensive Ayurvedic therapies and traditionally one of the most valued.
What a session involves
You sit or lie on the treatment table while oil is poured section by section, the therapists massaging each area as the oil is applied. The oil is collected, rewarmed and reused throughout so the temperature stays constant. Sessions typically run 60 to 90 minutes.
