About Shirovasti
Shirovasti holds warm medicated oil directly against the scalp. A cap is fitted around the head and sealed at the base, and oil is poured in and kept at a steady temperature. Where Shirodhara pours continuously, Shirovasti holds still, giving the longest sustained contact of the head therapies.
What a session involves
The head is prepared with a light massage before the cap is fitted and sealed. The oil is retained for a period your practitioner determines, commonly 20 to 45 minutes. The cap is then removed and the scalp and shoulders are gently massaged.
