About Swedanam
Swedanam is the application of therapeutic heat, most often as herbal steam. It generally follows an oil therapy: the oil prepares the tissues and the steam helps carry its effect inward. The two are traditionally paired rather than given separately.
What a session involves
You sit in a steam chamber with your head outside it, or the steam is directed at a single region. Herbs are added to the water according to your constitution. Sessions are short, commonly 10 to 20 minutes, and stop as soon as the intended effect is reached.
