About Nasya
Nasya administers a medicated preparation through the nasal passages. In Ayurveda the nose is regarded as the route to the head, so Nasya is the procedure traditionally used where the complaint sits above the shoulders. It is the gentlest of the five and the one most often given on its own.
How it is given
A short massage of the face, head and neck precedes the procedure, sometimes with mild steam. You lie with the head tilted back while measured drops are administered into each nostril. You are then asked to rest briefly. The whole appointment takes around 30 minutes.
Afterwards
Avoid cold air, cold water and dust for the rest of the day. Your practitioner may pair it with Dhoomapanam and will explain what to expect in the hours afterwards.
